The winter season is among us, but it is never too soon to know what are going to be some of the hottest trends for the spring season. Denim jackets are making a comeback and when I attended Los Angeles Fashion Week I saw them on the JoyRich runway and they looked great, a fashion-forward take on the American classic.*

Keep in mind a couple of things when looking for the perfect denim jacket. The first is the cut, go for a fitted, close to the body fit that will hit right above the hips. If you’re short try a copped jacket, this will give the appearance of longer legs.

What outfits go with a denim jacket? Good question, in the past denim on denim would have gotten you a fashion ticket, but this is no longer the case. Denim on denim is going to be a popular thing this spring, but make sure you do not match the washes. Mix up your denim washes, have some fun with them. Pair a lighter jacket with a darker bottom or if you are still wary of combining the blues switch out one for a gray or black. And of course floral dresses will look ultra chic with a light or medium wash denim jacket.

The denim jacket will be one of the most versatile and must have pieces for the Spring. Whether it is a light wash, cropped, blazer or motorcycle jacket you choose to wear, make it your own.
