Spring Nail Polish Picks

Spring has officially sprung (I’m sure you’re tired of hearing that already, right?) and our toes get to come out of hibernation and make their way into cute sandals and our finger tips get to adorn bright and pastel polishes. Below are just a few of my favorite colors that I love to wear during spring. Do you prefer brights or pastels more on your nails?

Also, I wish I was the girl in charge of thinking of names for nail polish colors, doesn’t that seem like a rad job?

1. Essie’s Good to Go top coat. I LOVE this top coat. If you’re like me and cannot wait for your nails to dry, this top coat will become your best friend. I put it on and in about 90 sec my nails are good to go!

2. American Apparel glitter polish in Galaxy. Anytime I want to give my polish a little kick, I layer this polish before my top coat and it does the trick every time.

White Hot+Traffic-Stopper Copper

I got my Sephora goodies in the mail on Saturday and I couldn’t wait to try my Sephora by OPI polishes. You would think I’d have a white nail polish, given it’s as common as having a red or a pink polish, but Sephora by OPI’s White Hot is my first white polish and the pigment is amazing. The glitter, Traffic-Stopper Copper (say that 10 times fast) is a perfect rose colored glitter that would look glamorous on top of any polish. I love the confetti look to the glitter and I really like how the white makes it pop.

Pretty In Polish: LA Nail Artist Fio

When you hear the word fashion or style you think of people, clothes, shoes, jewelry and handbags, but in last four years nail art and nail design have become a world of its own. A nailbed is now a canvas and celebrities like Lady Gaga and Zooey Deschanel are using their mini canvases as an accessory.

Fiorella Sotomayor or Fio as many people know her, has been doing nail art for four years on her Pretty in Polish site and has not stepped foot into a nail salon since she discovered her amazing talent.

This ambidextrous, fashion loving, 20 something year old finds her peace and relaxation once a week when she take time to create works of art on her nails, “It’s something for me, once a week I have my ‘me time’ and do my nails,” Fio says.

Each week her nail designs can take 30 minutes to an hour and half to complete, then she shares them on her Pretty in Polish site where she has also taken requests.

“Your nails are an accessory and can make an outfit, it also really gets conversation going,” she says.

Some of Fio’s favorite brands of polishes include OPI, Essie and Orly, “I use so many different polishes, but these are some that I will spend the extra money on because they really do make a difference in color and quality.”

The ever so lovely Fio from Pretty in Polish

I recently had the pleasure of Fio doing my nails, which was a huge honor and needless to say they came out amazing!

Loving the tribal designs, such a huge trend for spring

Smush

YAYA did a line especially for Urban Outfitters called Nome de Plume. I am in love with the black mesh top half of the top. There is something about skin against mesh or lace that screams sultry.
