Emerald: Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year

Thanks to Pantone , we’re getting a little green next year, Emerald green to be exact. A couple weeks ago Pantone released their new Color of the Year and it’s a personal favorite of mine, Emerald.

Emerald is not only 2013 color of the year, but it also the birthstone for the month of May, which so happens to also be the month of my birthday. Could this be a sign that 2013 will be a good year for me? ;)

Like Tangerine Tango(2012′s color of the year), Emerald is a great color because it’s faltering on all skin tones and will encourage shoppers to wear a color they hadn’t thought of wearing before. What do you think of the 2013 color of the year? Do you plan on putting a little green in your wardrobe?

Golden Stripes

With an entire walk-in closet of clothes, there are some days where I cannot figure out what to wear and I hate everything. Those moments are rare, but when they do happen I have a couple of go-to looks that always work and make me feel great. One of them is the (not too short) short dress and blazer look, it’s easy and perfect for work and even better for an event or dinner with friends. If you want to make this look more night time or date night, swap the sandals for a pair of wedges.

Brights go hand-in-hand, hence why color blocking is a huge trend. So if you’re wearing a bright blazer, dress, shoes or all three, pair it with a bright lipstick. It’s a fun addition to the look and will brighten your face.

Steal Her Look: Peggy Olson

Mad Men is more then half way done with its fifth season and I’m surprised it took me this long to create a ‘Steal Her Look’ for one of my favorite characters on the show, Peggy Olson. For those who do not watch Mad Men (you really really should) I won’t go in to exteme detail with who Peggy is, but know that she is one of, if not the strongest characters on the show. She started off as a secretary, but after hard work and drive became a copy writer. Being a women in an all male industry in the 1960′s was a big deal and Olson was in league of her own. Throughout the seasons you see Peggy becoming stronger and more authoritative, measuring up with the men.

Her sense of style has also evolved and she has become quite stylish. The look below is one of my favorites, it’s feminine and strong. I look forward to seeing  how Peggy evolves throughout the rest of season five. Before this season is over I promise to do two more Mad Men inspired ‘Steal Her Look!’

1. Marc by Marc Jacobs Polka Dot Top $250 OR J.Crew Natasha Top $98

2. YSL Vest $2,500

3. Blu Bijoux White Double-Drop Earrings $18

4. Nine West Watch $25

5. Vintage Reserve Mariann Heel $80

6. Topshop Airtex Pleated Skirt $68
